The third stage of the regional junior cycling championship will conclude at Las Torres de Cotillas.
It will be Friday, August 24, coinciding with the beginning of the town's patron saint festivities, in a day in which runners must cover a distance of 92 kilometers and with which this championship will conclude.
"It will be an urban tour and during the day will also be held the 'I Memorial Antonio Sarabia García', a test that will honor this beloved person in our town and appreciated by the cycling family of our region," explains the councilor of Physical Activity and Sports, Ginés Pérez, who points out that this is an official test of federated character scoring for the national ranking.
The first stage of this regional tour will be on August 22 in Murcia with a distance of 91.3 kilometers, with two high points, while the second will be held the next day in Beniel with 86 kilometers with the same ports.
"In this way, we recover a competition that had been held at a regional level since 1984 but disappeared from the cycling calendar several years ago," says Pérez.
Another souvenir for Sarabia
In addition, just a week later -Friday, August 31st- another year will be held on the 'Bicycle Day', which this year and will forever bear the name of Antonio Sarabia.
"With this appointment we want to eternally honor your memory as a tribute and distinction for your passion and commitment in the promotion of this sporting event," says the mayor, Isabel María Zapata.
