Interview with cynthia cano, announcer of the festivities 2018 (29/07/2018)

Flamenco Torrena Flamenco dancer Cynthia Cano has been chosen as the promoter of the 2018 festivities of Las Torres de Cotillas, festivities that she will open with her speech on Friday, August 24 (22 hours) in the municipal auditorium 'Juan Baño'.

"With only 24 years Cynthia is flagship and flag of our municipality wherever she goes, our culture, wasting her talent and showing that she is one of the most important artists of our country in her discipline", highlights the mayor, Isabel María Zapata.

"It is an example of perseverance, talent, work, sacrifice and maturity, and for all this we could not have a better pregonera for our parties", explains the councilor.

What does it mean to be the proclaimer of your town's parties?

It was a completely unexpected fact, I never thought I would be worthy of such an award.

I know many Torreñas personalities that I consider worthy of this recognition.

But, having said that, I can not deny that I felt a great joy and a great pride in knowing my appointment to be a precursor to the festivities of Las Torres de Cotillas, my town.

Many people have already congratulated him on this appointment.

What they say?

Who has been more excited to congratulate him?

I have congratulated many people, but without saying names, all have made me very excited and I have come to excite the content of their messages and words.

But having to choose a person, I choose the mayor of our town, Isabel María Zapata, for her attentive words to me and because, in some way, not only represents the municipal corporation, but also the feeling of the different associations, groups and anonymous people who surely shared this appointment and that I from here thank you from my heart.

Have you already thought about what will be your pregóny what do you want to emphasize in it?

I think I will allow myself a small license and accept my new status as a journalism professional to do, as a miscellany, a journey from my beginnings in my town: my studies at the school 'Monte Azahar';

the few, but intense years in the choir of our church of the Virgin of La Salceda;

my career in which was the cultural association 'Badana', because without a doubt, each of them, contributed in my training and helped me to be the person that I am today.

In a special way, Badana activated the artistic facet with which I move today, flamenco dancing.

For this reason, I would like to acknowledge the cultural associations, for their immense work for the benefit of the youth and also for our elders, as a meeting point and, at the same time, to recognize the dance, where I include the Flamenco dance so that in our region it is known in greater depth and, once it is known, to support it as it is done in the countries of our environment and in others further away.

Because I believe that by supporting culture we make a better society.

How do you usually live the holidays?

With what acts do you enjoy more?

I try, as my work schedule allows, because with this being an artist today I am here and tomorrow in Beijing, to continue with what I did as a child, like going to the offering of the Virgin with our allusive costumes.

I really like to see the coronation of the queens with the artists they bring and another thing that really amused me was the charamita.

What do you expect from this year's parties?

I hope that everyone will enjoy and be able to share them with so many people that I love.

What memories do you have of your childhood parties?

I loved the floats, the burning of the Raspajo, and another thing that I liked was to go to see the best decorated street and see which was the one that won, that by the way Lope de Vega Street won three or four times in a row the first prize.

If I had to invite someone from outside to Las Torres de Cotillas parties, what would I say to convince him?

I would tell him not to miss the chance to meet wonderful people, a town with history and culture that developed between Romans and Muslims.

Let them come to know the manor of Las Torres de Cotillas in the best parties in the region, where music and various activities are offered in the different spaces culinary delicacies and, at the same time, enjoy the immense talent and art that is in many Torreños and torreñas.

What does Las Torres de Cotillas and its people represent to you?

In the first place, it is my land, it is the town where I have been formed and, therefore, Las Torres de Cotillas is my essence.

I have many friends from childhood, but also of all ages, whom I love very much, even if I do not see everything I want and that speaks very well of the people of this town.

What does dancing mean to you?

The dance is my life, the dance is me.

What are the next challenges in your artistic career?

Continue to grow, continue to learn from the best, research, create my own artistic identity, which of course will have the stamp of Las Torres de Cotillas.
