The Ministry of Education has already made the addition of additional funds to the four schools of Las Torres de Cotillas selected within its 'Weatherization Plan'.

"The schools 'Joaquín Cantero', 'Vista Alegre', 'San José' and 'El Parque', which are the centers that do not currently have air conditioning, already have 3,000 euros each to make the investments they consider most appropriate for minimize the impact of high temperatures, "says Mayor Isabel María Zapata.

The income of the subsidy, granted from the General Directorate of Centers, has already been communicated to the AMPA of the centers, which during August must make the chosen measures effective (air conditioners, awnings, shades, etc.) to be in operation in September.

"Only 150 centers throughout the Region of Murcia have obtained this aid, so taking into account the population of Las Torres de Cotillas, we are the municipalities that have received the most subsidy," said the Councilor for Education, Pedro Cabrera, remember that the granting of aid meets criteria such as the climate zone, the age of the air conditioning facilities and their current status, the number of spaces in the center ...

Improvement of the electric line

Together with these additional funds that come from the Ministry, Torreño City Council continues working to improve the air conditioning of the local centers.

In this line recently improved the electrical installation of the school 'Vista Alegre', whose age is more than 15 years.

"Since its construction until today the electrical needs of the center have doubled, given the improvements in lighting and technological resources," explains the mayor, who says that with these works, valued at 7,500 euros of municipal funds, have been resolved the cuts and the correct functioning of the center has been achieved.

In addition, the City acquired portable air conditioners of 3,500 frigorías for municipal facilities, which are available to public schools of children and primary municipal who request it.

A temporary solution while the Ministry of Education undertakes the work planned for the air conditioning of the classrooms of these Torreño teaching centers.
