The regional league of futsal 'Pro Mental Health' disputed yesterday Thursday November 15 in the pavilion of the municipal sports center of Las Torres de Cotillas his third day, where he served as host the Association of Families and People with Mental Illness of Murcia (AFES) .
On this morning of coexistence sports, a total of six teams from all over the region participated: 'Halcones y titans' (AFEMNOR and AFEMTO), 'Los vikingos de Cieza' (AFEMCE), 'Los Ángeles Celtics' (Nuevo Azahar and Altavida) and 'The coyotes of Santa Ana' (Abanilla) and 'Los Racing de AFES' (Las Torres de Cotillas-Murcia).
In this meeting, in which the Department of Physical Activity and Sports collaborated, the participants enjoyed a healthy lunch with fruit and vegetables, a draw with ceramic figures made by AFES users and a meal shared by all the teams in their own sports Center.
"This tournament already has a lot of tradition, since it began in 2007 driven by professionals from different associations of the Murcia Federation of Associations of Relatives and People with Illness (FEAFES) that sought to promote physical exercise, healthy habits and social relationships of people with disability due to chronic mental illness ", explains the councilor of the area, Ginés Pérez.
Various facilities
AFES has a Day Center and a Residence-Home in Las Torres de Cotillas, serving 50 people with mental illness, as well as a Day Center in Murcia where it serves 100 users.
"Recently, a shelter has been added to their facilities in our municipality, where a small number of people with chronic mental illness coexist autonomously, with the support of qualified personnel that promotes the development of basic daily life skills. ", explains the mayor, Isabel María Zapata.
