More than 100 players from all over the country will gather on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March at the municipal pavilion 'Mireia Belmonte' of Las Torres de Cotillas to compete for a test of the five-star senior national circuit of the Spanish Badminton Federation.
This tournament for participants between 30 and 75 years, in which the Higher Sports Council and the Department of Physical Activity and Sports collaborate, will be played in various categories divided according to age and in the modalities of singles and doubles.
"This is a tournament with great roots in our town, as it is the fourth occasion that is disputed after the editions of 2015, 2016 and 2018", explains the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who highlights the importance of this sport in Las Torres of Cotillas.
"We hope our representatives will stand out again like they did last year, where they hung one silver and five bronzes," says the mayor of the area, Ginés Pérez, who points out that this is one of the tournaments in which you can see the best badminton of veterans of the country, even with participants coming from abroad.
"We will have competitors from 40 clubs, which will play a total of 230 games spread over 9 tracks," said the councilor, who reports that Las Torres de Cotillas is the sixth test of the seven that make up this senior national circuit.
In this event they collaborate the Federation Badminton Region of Murcia, the General Directorate of Sports, the Catholic University San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM), Iberdrola, Bádmiton Las Torres, Axil Developments, Hero, LaLiga Sports, Hero, Hotel Los Romeros, La Loma , Regiomur Vending and Deas Vending.
