The Sangochaos of Torrevieja win the Chirigota contest of Las Torres de Cotillas Carnival

It was held on Thursday, March 7 at the Pedro Serna House of Culture, with the Chiriwoman of Caravaca de la Cruz as runners-up

With the Pedro Serna House of Culture to the flag, on Thursday night, March 7, the second edition of the Chirigota contest of Las Torres de Cotillas was held, in which the Sangochaos de Torrevieja won the Chirigota.

In addition to the opportunity to act today in the same scenario, the group from Alicante won a cash prize of 1,000 euros.

"It was a very fun night and it is a pleasure to see how our neighbors respond, filling up our House of Culture," explains the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who reports that in second place - with a prize of 500 euros - the members remained of the Chiriwoman, the chirigota of Caravaca de la Cruz.

Organized by the Department of Celebrations, this contest meant the opening of these festivities in the municipality and in it, in addition to the first two, three other chirigotas acted: those of the Murcia districts of La Albatalía and Cabezo de Torres, as well as the male from Caravaca.

The awards ceremony will be Friday, March 8 (21 hours) and in the same place, during the proclamation of these celebrations that this time will be borne by the association Brodguay and in which the two winning groups will also act.

Parades and route of the cover

The carnival weekend will be completed with two parades that will depart from Juan Carlos I Avenue and in which the imagination, talent and all the desire to have a good time of Las Torres de Cotillas will take place: the adult one that will take place tomorrow, Saturday, the 9th. March (18 hours), with a tour to the Ermita de la Cruz, and in which about 800 participants are expected;

and the children's, which will leave on Sunday March 10 (12 hours) and in which about 600 children will go to the roundabout of Mula Street.

"The parade of the youngest of the house was held for the first time last year, with such success that we repeat and we are sure that it will have more influx still," says Councilwoman of Celebrations, Amalia Perez.

In addition, to give a special touch to these celebrations, an express lid route will be held.

From March 8 to 10 and from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m., 12 establishments will offer a tapa plus beer or soft drink for 2.50 euros.
