A municipal campaign of health promotion and prevention of alcohol consumption for young people from 16 to 22 years proposes a contest to create the campaign spot on social networks and reward consumption control with free breakfast

The City Council of Las Torres de Cotillas will develop a municipal campaign to prevent excessive alcohol consumption among young people aged 16 to 22 years ahead of the next local festivities.

Under the motto 'Less is more.

Who controls, you or the alcohol? ', Seeks to provide adolescents with the skills, abilities and personal resources necessary to properly handle situations where they come into contact with alcohol.

"In Spain, alcohol consumption begins between the ages of 13 and 16, and one of the main problems is the consumption of binge eating, which has been growing since 2009," explains Mayor Torreño, Joaquín Vela Fernández.

"Some really worrying data and that we must face with awareness efforts such as the campaign that we will launch at local parties, in which situations occur where these behaviors can occur," he says.

Free contest and breakfast

A campaign promoted by the Department of Health and Sports that has two main objectives: on the one hand, raise awareness of the damage to mental health caused by alcohol consumption;

and, on the other, to alert the physical risk to vulnerability to prevent and avoid situations of violence, harassment and accidents.

For this, two initiatives have been launched: a video contest on social networks, whose winner will be the advertising spot of the campaign;

and some alcohol-free controls with free breakfast for those who do not exceed the rates of alcohol allowed in order to reward young people who choose not to consume or to make responsible consumption.

"It is necessary to inform young people of the damage caused by consumption and make them aware that they can have fun and enjoy the holidays without abusing it," explains the councilwoman of the area, Alberta Martínez Vázquez

The contest aims to young people create a 60-second advertising spot that promotes responsible consumption and reports the damage that alcohol can cause to health and physical integrity.

How they can be affected by alcohol abuse or what they would say to their friends are some of the questions asked to ensure that they do not lose control of their consumption again.

Your registration will be done at the Town Hall (968.626.511) until Monday, August 12 and the works can be submitted until Monday, August 19 (12 hours).

The selected videos will be published in the municipal Instagram account and can be voted between Tuesday 20 and Saturday 25 August.

The work with more 'Like' will receive a unique prize of 200 euros in cash, which will be delivered at the Vamos Peña gala.

In addition, during the holidays young people will be offered the possibility of undergoing alcohol tests from 4 to 5 in the morning.

"Those who do not exceed the limits of 0'25 mg / l of expired alcohol will be rewarded with a breakfast of churros with chocolate at the fair," says the councilwoman, who emphasizes that the main message that you want to move is that "consume hurts your health and control has a prize. "
