La Barraca de Federico pinatarense competes in the national amateur theater contest Juan Baño with 'The broken unicorn' (18/10/2019)

The national amateur theater contest Juan Baño de Las Torres de Cotillas will enjoy tomorrow, October 19 (9 pm) of his third work in competition.

It will be the turn of the group La Barraca de Federico (San Pedro del Pinatar) with 'The broken unicorn', in this event organized by the Department of Culture Torreña and the amateur theater group Tejuba.

Adaptation of 'The Crystal Zoo' by Pulitzer Tennesee Williams, 'The Broken Unicorn' is a dramatic comedy that tells the story of a middle-class family that survives under the shadow of a father who disappeared long ago.

The mother, authoritarian, insecure and unsuccessful, sees in her children the only possibility of salvation.

The harshness of a life without a horizon will have to be resolved through the choice between submission and freedom, whatever the price to be paid.

A big poster

There will still be a work to go.

It will be on October 26 (21 hours) when the group El curtain negro de Navalcarnero (Madrid) represents 'Fubol'.

All the works will be represented at 9 pm at the Pedro Serna House of Culture and will have an entrance fee of 3 euros.

To conclude this edition, on Saturday, November 9 (9 pm) and with free admission the awards ceremony will be held.

An evening in which attendees can enjoy the representation of 'The prodigious shoemaker', which the Tejuba group will make out of competition.

Two works already

This contest started last Saturday, October 5 with the staging of the play 'Women's Assembly' by the Caligae Teatro de Yecla.

A fun historical vision of the struggle of the sexes with which the Murcian group completes the Aristophonic trilogy after Lysistrata and Tesmoforias.

On Saturday, October 12, it was the turn of the Madrid company Mascarade, which represented 'The Grönholm method'.

This ruthless and hilarious comedy, with large doses of intrigue, made the public laugh that crowded the city hall with its history that tells the process of personnel selection for an important executive position.

Great prizes

Like each edition, this contest will distribute some succulent prizes determined by the designated jury: 1,000 euros and a trophy for the best show;

200 euros and three times for the best actor and actress;

100 euros and trophy for the best address;

and 100 euros and three times for the best actress and supporting actor.
