The Brotherhood of the Risen Christ and San Pedro de Las Torres de Cotillas turns forty (22/10/2019)

Raining the fall of 1979, a new passion brotherhood was born in Las Torres de Cotillas.

It was the one that would be baptized as that of the Risen Christ and St. Peter and that he would preside until ten years later an endearing man and loved by his neighbors for his exemplary career in many facets of local public life, Antonio Vicente Belchí.

Since then, a paragon of virtues, tenacity, solid commitment and indefatigable wood of Christian commitment, such as Consuelo González Sáenz, is leading this penitential group.

That of the Risen Christ and St. Peter is a group of neighbors who throughout these years have shown a special vocation, to spread faith through the streets of our town, bringing the shoulder in many ways and all of them admirable, for example, privileged participants in 1980 of the first procession of Easter Sunday in our Villa.

Sharing in itself friendship, faith and devotion.

Forty years is a long or short time in the walk of history.

It is quite a while in the lives of those who are here today.

Four decades living experiences together, most of the time good.

But it is a time that can also represent a tiny gram of sand on the clock of History when we go back to the genesis of our Torreño brotherhoods, back in the early seventeenth century, according to the documents preserved in this regard or at the start of the last century when there are already inventories of images of Brotherhoods of Passion.

Beyond what you can pontificate the dictionary to the use or the statutes of any brotherhood, a brother who sets an example is one who puts the most of himself to improve, magnify the great and massive event in which he meets, Holy Week as such, putting at its most intense the conditions to make the processional parades, amen of majesty, meaning and reborn life, excellent catechism of solemnity, recollection and above all a message of Christian humanism in full letter.

The work of a model brotherhood is to achieve incardinar year after year the full meaning of a singular Holy Week in the social field from which its human component of penitents, Nazarenes, bearers emanates, ... loaded with generosity, will, sincere devotion, ... that is, in the public life of the municipality and collaborate in every way to offer the public the perception that a message of human perfection deserves like the one that covers the passionate manifestations in the streets.

In short, do not neglect that approach to the people that Holy Week should have because the vein of the people, men and women are those that propagate the symbolism of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Lord through the vital nerve of the town.

And in this aspect that of the Risen Christ and St. Peter has not ceased at any time to demonstrate vitality in making the social relevance of the Torreño brotherhoods in the area of the municipality present, showing the claw, the strength of some people that make the extraordinary emotion, the deepest and oldest tradition of Torrena, the scene of what we are capable of moving and doing in this Villa.

We speak of people from a cofrade microcosm that reflect in their delivery, in their vitalism without pausing work, the thrust of the faith of a whole town that channels in Holy Week huge doses of feeling, art, history, language out of the heart in Prayer praise, I mean men and women with whom it is an honor to live side by side the intrigues of preparing in the smallest detail some exquisite parades where thrones and images rocked to the beat of a feeling of firm belief mark the throbbing of religiosity popular of Las Torres de Cotillas.

In short, neighbors who represent that character based on making faith, people, devotion, example, participation, spirit of collaboration, team, moved all by something big that comes from the soul.

This is a small tribute to those brothers who four decades ago considered the horizon of drawing a conjunction of wills embodied in an unbreakable inner strength that is expressed by taking to the street in a determined effort two images that reflect the peak moments in which they unfold our processions torreñas, two prints vivified in visual catechism before thousands of spectators through the gouge of the Murcian sculptor of Espinardo Antonio García Mengual in the beginning of the eighties.

Dear Brothers of the Risen Christ and St. Peter, congratulations to all of you for these four decades and may the Lord bless you to move on.

Juan José Ruiz Moñino, President of the Superior Cabildo of Brotherhoods of Las Torres de Cotillas.
