Julián Montesinos wins the "VIII International Contest of Poetry Carmen Montero Medina" (25/03/2017)

Julián Montesinos, professor and doctor in Hispanic Philology, has proclaimed himself the winner of the 'VIII International Contest of Poetry Carmen Montero Medina', jointly organized by the 'Carmen Montero Medina' foundation and the Las Torres de Cotillas Town Hall.

With the work 'The sweet movement to exist', presented under the pseudonym of 'Noroeste', this author Alicante resident in Elche has won the unique prize proposed in this international competition: an economic prize of 1,000 euros for the best work.

The ceremony was held on Friday 17 March at the Pedro Serna House of Culture and was chaired by the Councilor for Culture Torreño, Pedro Cabrera, and Carmen Montero, the patron of the foundation.

The award winner read the poemaganador, a composition that in the words of the cultural director of the aforementioned foundation, María Ángeles Moragues, "inherits the witness of Jaime Gil de Biedma, one of the great Spanish poets of social solitude, and who, without To be subject to the classical canons of form, collects unusual images that amalgamate the everyday and the poetic. Montesinos expressed, along with his gratitude, the welcome and the affection given by those who attended the event.

"A total of 274 valid works have been presented from all over Spain, as well as from many foreign countries like Argentina, Cuba, Mexico and Colombia," says Cabrera.

In that act also was given to Carmen Montero Medina a diploma for the sixty works published by the manager of the publishers 'Nausicäa' and 'Azarbe', Manuel Ortíz.
