The City Council improves the safety of the pines of the Park of the Issuer (21/06/2017)

The City Council of Las Torres de Cotillas, through its Department of Environment and Services, has begun the work of plowing of the outside perimeter of the Park of the Issuer.

"Specifically we are acting on the trees adjacent to Pizarro street," explains the councilor of the area, Inmaculada Fernández, who points out that "this action is part of the improvements in the maintenance contract of the green areas of the municipality and therefore will not involve any Cost to municipal coffers ".

Since these pine trees were planted so close to the houses - and more specifically in the last years - problems have been detected in these pines, mainly due to the fall of branches in times of strong winds, roots that go under the houses and problems Of dirt by the juma of the pines to the roofs of the houses, jamming gutters of drainage.

"In the face of these problems the neighbors of the street have requested that appropriate measures be taken to solve the problem and we have set to work," Fernández says.

Various tasks

The municipal technical services have reviewed the condition of the pinus halepensis (carrasco pine) of the area, proving that the plantation frame of these trees - as well as their separation with the houses - is not correct, due to the living space Need for its proper development as for its architecture.

"They also pose a risk for both dwellings and users of the area, which is widely used to practice sport," says the mayor.

Therefore, for reasons of safety and to prevent future accidents has begun with the removal of the row of pines closest to the houses given their proximity and imminent risk of excessive slope and lack of stability.

In addition, it is going to proceed to the reduction of the density of the rest of rows to allow them a correct development.

"They will eliminate one in two because they are currently leaning for the sun, an action that will also help their nutritional needs," said the councilwoman.
