The young athlete Torreño Sergio Jornet, champion of Spain decathlon sub 23 and combined test specialist, is now ready to compete with the seniors.
This is demonstrated by his great performance in the Championship of Spain of his absolute modality, where he obtained a deserved and brilliant fourth place.
"Sergio was during all the development of the test between the first three, but in the end he could not take a medal despite getting his best personal mark with 6,759 points," said Torreño Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Ginés Pérez.
"This fourth place knows to glory and is the best prize for a great season, in which he has also been national champions of heptathlon in sub-23 category", says the mayor, who participated together with the mayor Torreño, Domingo Coronado, in the Official reception that was given a few days ago to the young athlete in the local Town Hall.
"We do not tire of congratulating Sergio for his magnificent results, he is a pride for his people and we hope to continue applauding his successes for a long time", emphasizes the mayor, who received from Sergio a photo dedicated as a souvenir of this outstanding campaign.
Sergio, chosen last November as "Best male athlete of the year" by the Murcia Region Athletics Federation (FAMU), has a large number of medals both in regional and national championships combined tests of lower categories.
