Irene López, of the association 'Media Legua', has been chosen as 'Raspajo of the Year' of the Patron Celebrations of Las Torres de Cotillas.
It will be officially presented at the gala to present the festivities, which will take place on Friday, August 18 (22 hours) in the Municipal Auditorium 'Juan Baño', and which will also crown the infants, juveniles and the Home of The Elders, and the group 'Tejuba' will read the proclamation as a tribute to the recent celebration of its 50th anniversary.
Irene, habitual participant of very active way of the festejos torreños, will have this year a leading role.
Although it is archenera of birth, it takes almost 20 years in the municipality and it feels like one more torreña.
Hairdresser in the Home of the Elderly in the municipality, it was her daughter who gave the news of his appointment.
"For me it is a real pride to be a main part of these parties and I am very excited because I always like to be at the core," he says.
"My grandmothers in the House are very happy and tell me that I deserve much," he says.
She is a true lover of these festivities, whose days live "to the top, especially acts of coexistence like the Sardina and the Zurra or the parade of floats, where all the members of the rocks meet to have a great time."
"I like to dance, to jump and to enjoy, and although this year there will be times that I have to fulfill like 'Scrape of the Year' I know that, even if it is otherwise, I will live intensely these celebrations," he says.
"They are making me a dress to go out in the parade with which I am going to be the same as the Raspajo that has been designed this year", explains enthusiastically.
An important figure in the Holidays
The 'Raspajo' is a large cardboard doll, a 'ninot' that represents a scarecrow and that honors the past huertano, harvester and agricultural of the municipality.
Its burning is the last act of the festive program and marks the end of the festivities, next to a large pyromusical castle.
"This year will have a lemon head, carrot hands, neck and legs of branches or waist bunch of grapes," says Councilwoman Festivities, Amalia Perez, who explains that "this great doll gives a name very representative of the Celebrations such as the 'Scratch of the Year', very present in all acts.
