Torreño Manuel Garcia, fourth in the World University debate held in Guatemala (11/08/2017)

The young torreño Manuel García stayed on the doorstep of the podium in the sixth edition of the World University Debate Championship in Spanish held recently in Guatemala, where he signed a magnificent fourth place in the category of speech.

After these nine debates the UM managed to go to final rounds and get present for the fourth consecutive year (Córdoba 2016, Colombia 2015 and Mexico 2014) in the eighth of the competition, being in this case in the 21st position of more than 100 teams of all the world.

Pride of Torreño

The Torreño wanted to thank the Regional Assembly, the Vice-rector of Internationalization and the Culture and Communication of the UM, "its commitment to the debate thanks to which we could be one of the few Spanish public universities in Guatemala."

"For me it is a pride to represent the Region of Murcia and in particular my people, Las Torres de Cotillas, taking a bit of our beloved land to the Spanish-speaking world," explains García, who was received in the town hall Torreño a few days ago.
