The 'National Ceremony of Amateur Theater Juan Baños' Torreño presents its sixth edition (16/09/2017)

The 'National Contest of Amateur Theater Juan Baños' Las Torres de Cotillas will celebrate its sixth edition between the months of October and November.

This theatrical competition for amateur groups from all over Spain was presented on Friday September 15 at the Torreño Town Hall by the Councilor for Culture, Pedro Cabrera, and the director of the amateur theater group 'Tejuba', Joaquín Cantero.

"All the works in competition will be represented on Saturdays in October, at 9 pm, at the Casa de la Cultura 'Pedro Serna' and will have a ticket of 3 euros," says Cabrera, whose area collaborates in the organization with the group theatrical venue, which has just celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The closing of the contest will take place on Saturday 11 November with the awards ceremony, in an evening that will have free admission and with the representation out of competition by the 'Tejuba' of the work 'Go down to the moro.

Prizes that amount to about 2,000 euros and will be distributed as follows: 1,000 euros and trophy for the best show;

200 euros and trofeorespectively for the best actor and actress;

100 euros and trophy for the best address;

and 100 euros and trofeorespectively for the best actress and supporting actor.

Works in competition

The first work will be 'El eunuco', which will represent the group 'Taules Teatre' (Pinoso) on Saturday 7 October.

It is a comedy by the Roman playwright Terencio, freely versioned to create a comedy with dialogues current, casual, hooligan and very funny.

Saturday, October 14 will be the turn of 'Bizarre Game', the company 'Cinétika' (Mutxamel).

This work proposes the meeting of three strangers locked in a hut far from civilization.

Each of them knows the reason why it is there, but not the other two.

An anonymous note with a Latin phrase will be the only clue they will have to understand what is happening.

The play 'Casa de muñecas' will be the proposal that on Saturday, October 21, the 'Municipal Theater Workshop of Salobreña' put on the stage of the Torreño contest.

To close the works for the competition on Saturday, October 28, the 'Theater Company In Construction' (Elche) will represent 'Seven screams in the sea'.
