For the promotion of sports

"The main objective of the 'Do-U-Sport' project is to explore the role of local authorities in the promotion of sport as an activity for all and free of barriers," says the mayor, who explains that "these meetings serve to measure , evaluate and exchange first-hand information about how activities are developing, which stand out for being open, in family and for all. "

Some activities that in Las Torres de Cotillas have already served to enjoy days of sports on wheels and racket, as well as multi-adventure. "All participants are given a passport to seal the activities to be developed until July 2018, one per month, "says the mayor, who notes that among the users who participate the most will be drawn a trip to the final conference in Tabua.

With a budget of almost 31,500 euros for the Torreño municipality, this project is subsidized by almost 75% and is included in the Erasmus + program.

"There are multiple objectives that are sought, but one stands out above the rest: to sensitize the population in general about the importance of sport as the basis of a healthy lifestyle, which is achieved by allowing citizens to engage in physical activity -deportive that fits their needs, "says Perez, who stresses that it also seeks to" provide new strategies to ensure that sport is an activity for all groups, free of barriers. "

"In this way, through physical and sports activities we intend to favor the personal and social development of our neighbors", specifies the mayor.

"We also want to sensitize athletes about their important role both in the motivation and in the information of other neighbors, so that they see sport as something more complex, as a responsibility -for example- in the social dynamics of the municipality or in education. of children, "says Pérez.

Consolidating the role of local authorities in the promotion of sports for all, increasing the number of people and organizations involved in sports activities at the local level or promoting a deeper understanding of how sports are seen and experienced in the municipalities are other the objectives of this project that is already underway.
