The Regional League of football 'Pro Mental Health' played on Friday November 17 a day in the municipal sports hall of Las Torres de Cotillas.

This league event, which had the collaboration of the Department of Physical Activity and Sports, brought together five teams that met in various meetings.

These groups came from Cieza, Cehegín, Abanilla, Caravaca and from the municipality of Torreño itself.

With almost fifty participants, this day mixed a healthy scene of competition and a cordial atmosphere of coexistence.

"The participating teams belonged to associations that work in the rehabilitation and improvement of the quality of life of people with mental illness, as well as in the vindication of their rights", points out the councilor of the area, Ginés Pérez, who attended this meeting and that he remembers that "this tournament originates in 2007, when it was born with the aim of encouraging the practice of physical exercise, the creation of healthy habits and the promotion of social relationships of people with disabilities due to chronic mental illness."

The organization was run by the center of the Association of Families and Persons with Mental Illness of Murcia (AFES) in Las Torres de Cotillas for its perfect organization.

This entity has a Day Center and a Residence-Home in the municipality, serving 50 people with mental illness, as well as a Day Center in Murcia where it serves 100 users.
