The Torreño City Council seeks the proposals of its neighbors for the project of the "Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy" (22/01/2018)

Next Thursday, January 25 (20 hours) a new day of this process of citizen participation is celebrated to realize an action plan for this initiative

The City of Las Torres de Cotillas continues to work on the process of citizen participation to add contributions to the 'Plan of Action for Climate and Sustainable Energy' (PACES), the basis of its candidacy to join the 'Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy. '

After holding meetings with political groups and unions, municipal concessionaires, major companies in the town, the local association of merchants and employees of the consistory, for the next meeting on Thursday, January 25 (20 hours) in the municipal plenary hall has been cited associations and citizenship in general.

"This platform aims to achieve the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change in European municipalities," explains Mayor Isabel María Zapata.

This initiative brings together thousands of local and regional authorities with the voluntary commitment to apply in their territories the climate and energy objectives of the European Union (EU).

"We are working on its drafting and for this we are making presentations to groups of the municipality that we want to contribute their proposals," says Zapata.

Reduction of emissions

Currently from the Consistory Torreño is working on the part of the plan on reducing emissions through actions of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources.

An online form has also been created available on the municipal website (www.lastorresdecotillas.es) where the general public can participate in this consultation process, with whose overall results the necessary actions will be defined.

"This urban initiative, the largest in the world in terms of climate and energy, is a great opportunity to work together for the benefit of all," notes Zapata, who recalls that the adherent municipium must commit to reduce CO2 emissions in the less by 40% by 2030 and adopt a comprehensive approach to address climate change mitigation and adaptation.
