The Paco Rabal park in Las Torres de Cotillas will be the stage tomorrow, Sunday, April 15 (10:30 am) of the ninth sports day proposed by the European project 'Do-U-Sport'.

"With the motto 'Sustainable mobility' we can enjoy a bicycle activity for the whole family", explains the mayor Isabel María Zapata, who reminds that the registrations are free and can be made in the same place of the event.

The first activity will be a bicycle games, after which a route on two wheels of medium intensity will be launched (11 hours).

Finally, a bicycle repair and maintenance workshop will be held at 12 noon.

"For people under 16 years old, the helmet is mandatory," says Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports Ginés Pérez

This will be the ninth appointment in the municipality of the project 'Do-U-Sport', with which seven other activities have already been celebrated (kite flying, multi-adventure, dance and sports on wheels and racket, an urban gymkhana and a day of sport on the street), while hiking had to be postponed to May 6 due to bad weather.

Some proposals that are part of the free sports activities in family that are developed each month with this project.

"The people who participate in all the events and stamp their sports passport will be eligible for the draw for a trip to Portugal with all the expenses paid," says Pérez.

European project

The European project 'Do-U-Sport' is part of the 'Erasmus +' program and its main objective is to explore the role of local authorities in the promotion of sport as an activity for all, free of barriers.

In this proposal, which began in January 2017 and will last until next December, Las Torres de Cotillas participates in collaboration with the municipalities of Tábua (Portugal) and Mielec (Poland).

With a budget of almost 31,500 euros for the Torreño municipality, this project is subsidized by almost 75% by the European Commission.

"Consolidating the role of local authorities in promoting sports for all, increasing the number of people and organizations involved in sports activities at the local level or promoting a deeper understanding of how sports are seen and experienced in the municipalities are other of the objectives of this project that is already underway, "explains Pérez.
