Torreño school visit with municipal WWTP environmental campaigns (26/03/2014)

School Towers Cotillas visited last Friday, March 21 facilities Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the municipality, situated in the hamlet of Ritas Soto of the hamlet of La Loma near the Segura River.

On this visit, the school learned about the different areas of the plant and its operation, as well as the process of sewage treatment is carried out at this station.

A municipal facility of 40,000 square meters, with a treatment capacity of 12,500 cubic meters of water a day.

This activity, which coincided with the celebration of "World Water Day" (which is commemorated every year on 22 March), was part of the traditional school environmental campaigns organized by the Department of Health, Environment, Agriculture and local water.

Addressed to students of Primary Education schools in the municipality, the aim of these was to promote the acquisition of a set of values ​​and skills that enable them to act and make personal decisions to urban and environmental issues, as well as the potential for transmission of the same to their family.

Participating schools were the "Cervantes", "The Park", "Vista Alegre", "Joaquín Cantero", "Valentine Buendía," "San Jose", "Monte Azahar", "Divine Master" and "Susarte".

Two campaigns

Thus, this initiative consisted of two distinct campaigns.

On the one hand, a selective recycling is from 2006, went to school in 4th Primary and which have included visits to the Municipal Ecoparque.

This sought to familiarize the future citizens with source separation of municipal solid waste, separate collection, the operation of that Ecoparque and any other municipal initiative in the field of management of household waste.

On the other hand, there has been a campaign of good environmental practices for urban students of 6th Primary.

Its aim was to introduce the school and the need to purchase a code of good conduct urban environmental practices in consumer and energy saving, water consumption, noise, knowledge of rules in our town and tenure protection Pets potentially dangerous dogs, waste collection on public roads, schedule and frequency of waste collection, etc..

The campaign culminated with visits these schools to the WWTP.
