The local radio station Torrena "Onda 92-Radio Cotillas" presented on Friday 11 December at the Casa de la Cultura "Pedro Serna" the town's book "Tales Torrena", by Antonio Hernandez, who opened the library collection "Echoes of Radio "hosted by the radio company.

"This book is a simple story that tries to capture scenes framed in Las Torres de Cotillas the last century, in which, through ten actors and their activities, we know details, situations and events of social life and even family our recent past, "announces the author.

In this first volume, we engage with the social life of the town on two major social institutions (the Bar of the Cooperative and the Casino), with the advent of cinema and its operators, and their disappearance with the line buses to the capital, with the launch of the telephone, or with the opening of butchers, shoe shops, ice cream and the beginning of the Municipal Library.
New collection
"This new series attempts to collect the stories of people in our town who have done some outstanding social or professional activity," said José Antonio Sánchez, turn coordinator of the collection.
"Ultimately, it is people that drive our society, our economy and our culture.
Their initiatives, their successes and failures, our neighbors can provide some data needed to better understand our past, understand the present and deal better with our future.
Thus, we evaluate the efforts made by all the inhabitants of this town over the last century, to make themselves an identity and a continuous effort to achieve important social and personal achievements, "says Sanchez.
