The Community has granted this year to the City of Las Torres de Cotillas 435,000 euros for the development of seven programs that will provide training and employment to 62 unemployed.

The implementation of these initiatives, promoted by the Ministry of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment, through the SEF, are aimed primarily at groups that find greater difficulties in accessing the labor market as unemployed over 45 years , the young and the long-term unemployed.

The subsidies have allowed 20 of these 62 people without employment have been hired directly by the local council to perform works of bricklayer, painter and pawn works, among others.

These positions are currently occupied by six long-term unemployed who, for nine months, will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of public buildings, as well as the repair of roads and municipal facilities.

They are the same tasks that they carried out, up to the month of May, another six unemployed of different profile during a period of six months.

On the other hand, eight young beneficiaries of the Youth Guarantee have worked until May 31 as pawns cleaning roads and natural spaces of the municipality.

In this same sector, another 15 under 30s have been trained, specifically in the specialty of open spaces and industrial facilities, after alternating training with paid work for nine months.

These young people received today from the hands of the SEF's general director, Alejandro Zamora, and the mayor of Las Torres de Cotillas, Isabel María Zapata, a certificate of professionalism that, in addition to accrediting their skills in this professional branch, will allow them to work, for example, as street cleaning workers and waste collection workers, both in town halls and in companies in the sector.

During his speech, Zamora said that "these programs will help to boost the labor market of the municipality, its objective is not for unemployed people to leave unemployment for a few months, what we intend is to provide them with accredited training and work experience that make it easier for them to access the job market permanently. "

"In addition, we can not forget the double social benefit of these programs because, in addition to providing participants with training for employment, their work is beneficial for their municipality."

Likewise, another twelve unemployed people from Las Torres de Cotillas are conducting an 800-hour SEF course that will allow them to train in administrative management activities.

On the other hand, 15 long-term unemployed will begin in September a project that, in addition to 330 hours of training to work as garden laborers and nurseries, will offer a module of 60 hours aimed at improving their employment.

Evolution of employment

Prior to the presentation of diplomas, Alejandro Zamora met with the mayor to discuss ways of collaboration that serve to boost employment in the municipality.

The meeting also served to analyze the positive evolution of employment data in the town, where unemployment has decreased by 5.1 percent in the last year, which represents a decrease of 85 unemployed.
