The gala with the proclamation of Cynthia Cano and the coronation of the queens will open Torrenas parties (23/08/2018)

Tomorrow, Friday August 24 (22 hours) begin the patron saint festivities of Las Torres de Cotillas with a great evening in the municipal auditorium 'Juan Baño'.

An appointment that will be chaired by the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, and that will offer the proclamation of the dancer Torreña Cynthia Cano.

"With only 24 years Cynthia is flagship and flag of our municipality wherever she goes, our culture, wasting her talent and showing that she is one of the most important artists of our country in her discipline", highlights the mayor, Isabel María Zapata.

"It is an example of perseverance, talent, work, sacrifice and maturity, and for all this we could not have a better pregonera for our parties", explains the councilor.

A night where the act of crowning the queens for children, youth and the Home for the Elderly could not be missed, and in which various local entities will collaborate, such as the cultural associations' Kimera 'and' Brodguay ', and the dance academy' Víctor Campos'.

"In addition, we will name the 'Raspajo del Año', a distinction that this year falls to María Encarna Hernández de la peña 'El Raspajo', and will perform live the singers Sergio Almagro, participant in 'La Voz Kids', and Tony Blaya, who will present his latest album ", explains Zapata.

Varied program

Some parties that will return another year to join their traditional acts with other novelties to offer a wide and varied programming for all audiences.

Among the new concerts stand out (all with free admission), whose headline on this occasion will be 'Effect Hall', which will act on Friday August 31 (00 hours) in the Plaza Maestro Angel Palazón.

In the musical section there are also scheduled other appointments: an electrolatino concert (Saturday, September 1, 00 hours), with Henry Méndez, José de Rico and Team Mati in the Plaza Maestro Ángel Palazón;

a tribute to Raphael with live orchestra in the municipal auditorium 'Juan Baño (Friday, August 31, 00 hours);

a musical music magazine in the Plaza Maestro Ángel Palazón (Thursday, August 30, 23 hours);

and a varied music performance by Tony Salazar on the same stage (Wednesday, August 29, 10 pm).

In addition, there will be a great tribute to a typical Murcian product such as meatloaf with a big party (Saturday, September 1, 12 hours), where will be distributed in the park of the Constitution about 3,000 units while supplies last, to which will be added a beer tasting to combat the heat.

Another novelty in the Torrena 2018 celebrations will be the 'Water Party' (Sunday, September 2

from 4pm to 6pm), an event for all ages, with slides, foam parties, entertainment, music and many more surprises in the Parque de la Constitución.

"This is a proposal arising from the participatory budgeting process 2018-19, which was held in schools in our municipality," says Zapata.

Space for the traditional

Among the traditional events there will be plenty of solidary release of heifers in the portable bullring in La Emisora ​​(25, 27 and 28 August), the international folklore festival 'Juan Madrid Roca' in the municipal auditorium (August 25), the 'Ruta de la Tapa' (from August 27 to August 31 from 12 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), the 'Night of the zurra and la brasa' on Ronda Oeste Avenue (August 28), the popular paella at La Emisora ​​and the offering of flowers and fruits to the patron (August 31) or the multitudinous procession of floats and parades, which will have nearly 3,000 participants (September 1).

There will also be space like every year for sporting events, in whose program the popular night race stands out, which will celebrate its 24th edition with the epicenter on the Calle Mayor (29 August) and the 'Fiesta de la Bicicleta', which this year takes the name of Antonio Sarabia, great promoter of sport in the municipality and recently deceased (August 31).

Some festivities that will conclude on Sunday September 2 with a day that will feature two of the most anticipated festive proposals: the procession of the patron saint that will depart from her church and the closing ceremony, with the popular burning of the Raspajo.
