The 2018 patron saint festivities of Las Torres de Cotillas have officially begun in honor of the Virgen de la Salceda.
They did it yesterday, Friday, August 24 in the municipal auditorium 'Juan Baño' with a great evening presided over by the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, and which featured the proclamation of the Torreña dancer Cynthia Cano.
Among other aspects, the young woman reviewed her personal and professional career (which began in the now defunct association 'Badana'), highlighted the historic tenacity and kindness of the Torreño people, reviewed the most relevant moments for her during the festivities and underlined the pride he feels when he says where he goes that he is from Las Torres de Cotillas.
As a climax to her speech, Cynthia could not repress her art and offered the audience that packed the venue the best she could do: a small dance on stage that was received with great applause by her countrymen.
In addition, in this emotional night the bands were imposed on the queens of these parties: the children's ones (Emma Belchí, Paula Correchar, María del Carmen García, Leire García, Helena Garrido and Ainara Rodríguez), the juveniles (Alba Abellán, Almudena Contreras, Salud Dólera, Ana María Galián, Erika Pagán and Natalia Valiente) and those of the Hogar de los Mayores (Doloricas Sarabia, Josefa Torres and Francisca García).
An evening in which various local entities showed their talent, such as the cultural associations 'Kimera' and 'Brodguay', and the dance academy 'Víctor Campos', and in which two great Murcia singers such as Sergio Almagro and Tony Blaya performed .
"In addition, the prizes of the design contest of the 'Raspajo' doll were awarded and we made official the appointment of 'Raspajo del Año', a distinction that this year falls to María Encarna Hernández from the 'El Raspajo' peña," says Zapata.

Today the festive events begin at 7:00 pm with the image of the Virgin of La Salceda going down in pilgrimage from the Hermitage of the Coto to the street Grego, 2. To conclude the day, will take place in the municipal auditorium 'Juan Baño' the 33rd edition of the international folklore festival 'Juan Madrid Roca' (22 hours), organized by the 'Cotifolk' association.

On Sunday, August 26, the sport will be the protagonist.
