Citizens leave the Plenary of Las Torres de Cotillas after the umpteenth mockery of the minimum democratic standards by the mayor (26/09/2018)

Citizens has denounced today a new mockery of the mayor and the PP government team to the minimum democratic standards, after leaving the plenary after the councilor refused to debate by the emergency procedure a motion of orange training on the situation in the neighborhood of El Carmen.

"We are forced to use this urgent procedure to be able to raise our proposals to the Plenary, because since the PP and the mayor defeated the new Municipal Organic Regulation (ROM), our motions take up to two months to arrive to appear in the order of the day, which also does not guarantee that they will finally be discussed.

It is the umpteenth mockery of the minimum democratic standards they carry out, and this time we have opted to leave the Plenary Assembly, "said orange spokeswoman Marian Fernández.

In the last plenary session, Ciudadanos left the session - which had been attended by many residents of El Carmen - after the PP councilor gave Fernandez just three minutes to defend the urgency of the motion, which included an ambitious and detailed plan security and rehabilitation of the neighborhood based on 19 points.

"The mayor said that with the new regulation, only spokespersons could vote to vote the motion against, which took the floor and dismissed the debate," said the orange spokeswoman.

"He justified that it has been acting for two months, but in reality the problems in El Carmen go back to a decade ago, a decade in which the PP has been looking the other way.

He also said that he would allocate 800,000 euros of the Edusi funds to the rehabilitation of the neighborhood, but the problem is that they do not know well what they are going to spend it on, because they do not have a plan.

They have only asked the Local Police and the Civil Guard to let themselves be seen more by the neighborhood, but that is not a solution and in fact it is difficult to maintain a police presence when you do not have the necessary troops, "said Fernandez.

The orange spokeswoman also regretted that the rarefied atmosphere that is experienced in the Corporation has even led to serious insults between the mayor and the mayor Cristóbal Vicente, of Cambio Las Torres.

"In no case is it justified to go through certain lines, but the responsibility also lies in those who steal the debate and force the regulation to continue living in the illusion of an absolute majority supported by a defending councilor," Marian Fernández concluded.
