Last Friday, October 26, the school 'San José' and the children's schools (CAI 'Titina' and 'Virgen de la Salceda') of Las Torres de Cotillas joined the school movement against childhood leukemia organizing the charity race 'La vuelta al cole '(www.lavueltaalcole.com).
"It was a test to raise awareness about the problem of childhood leukemia, which increases by 330 new cases each year, in which 2 out of 10 children do not exceed it," says the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who attended the municipal sports center witness the career of the school children of 'San José'.
The objective of this day was to raise funds to finance a research grant that will help to continue looking for a cure for this disease.
"To participate, each runner contributed from one euro per registration to put their two cents", explains the Councilor for Education, Pedro Cabrera, who points out that the infant schools organized the race in their own centers.
"The foundation 'Unoentrecienmil' invited for the fourth year to all schools in Spain to organize a career with students, teachers and families of the center," says Cabrera.
In this edition more than 800 schools participated throughout the country and their runners received a diploma at the end to reward their effort.
