Participatory budgets 2019 continue with their information sessions (11/02/2019)

The participatory budgeting process 2019 of Las Torres de Cotillas, which will have 350,000 euros allocated to activities and / or financially sustainable investments, continues adding informative sessions among the residents of the municipality.

"Since January 31 we are holding different meetings in neighborhoods, districts and sector until February 12, to set the collection of proposals on February 14," says the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who this morning has participated in the meeting held at the Home for the Elderly.

These participatory budgets are open to the entire population over 16 years of age in the municipality, after the pilot experience carried out last year in secondary schools, high schools and training cycles.

"We want to involve citizens even more in the prioritization of the spending of municipal resources, since they will be able to participate in the debates and add their contribution in the decision making of the public budget," says Zapata, who points out that for this project with the supervision of the research team of the University of Murcia.

In various areas

These funds will be distributed as follows: two items of at least 10,000 euros for both the area of ​​women and equality for the elderly, another of a minimum of 15,000 euros for the area of ​​people with diversity and another more than 30,000 euros at least for districts.

In addition, a maximum of 285,000 euros of free designation will be allocated.

For a proposal to be considered in this process, it must meet these six requirements: that it may be executed in 2019, that it be municipal competence, that it be legally and technically viable, that it does not exceed the amount of 100,000 euros, that at present it is not executing and that is of general interest.

Next step

After the first stone of this proposal that are the informative sessions, at the end of March will proceed to give publicity to the proposals that will go to vote, which will be held on April 1.

Finally, on April 8 there will be a day of citizen participation to publicize the chosen projects.

"We continue with our intention to promote citizen participation to improve the quality of decision-making at the local level", says the councilor

"We want to increase citizens' knowledge of decision-making processes at the local level, elaborating a more effective and inclusive municipal budget", explains the mayor, who emphasizes that another objective is to integrate the participation of specific, more vulnerable sectors of the population. the population.
