Last Saturday, April 27, the patron saint festivities began in the neighborhood of La Cruz de Las Torres de Cotillas.

And they did it with the celebration of the Mayos, in which the bell of auroros torreña Our Lady of the Rosary interpreted the traditional songs of these dates to the doors of the Hermitage of the district.

A Mayan tradition inherited from the ancient custom of welcoming the month with altars adorned with all kinds of flowers, using the cross as the main element.

For this reason, in this Torreño neighborhood that has celebrated these festivities for more than 160 years with a marked popular and traditional character, this act is more than indicated.

Follow the party

The acts will continue tomorrow, Tuesday, April 30 (21 hours) with the beginning of the liturgic triduum Ermita and Wednesday, May 1, with three appointments: at 6:00 pm concert of the Las Torres de Cotillas music band in the Plaza de la Hermitage, at 7:00 pm, transfer of the Holy Cross to the church of Nuestra Señora de la Salceda and at 9:00 pm, continuation of the liturgical triduum at the Ermita de la Cruz.

Thursday May 2 will also be a day full of activities, with children's games (inflatable, children's entertainment, workshops ...) in the Plaza de la Ermita (17 hours), the conclusion of the liturgical triduum (21 hours) and a spectacular "guateque" from the 60s in the Plaza de la Ermita (21:30 hours).

Final stretch

The 2019 celebrations of the neighborhood of La Cruz Torreño will end on Friday, May 3, the day on which their neighbors will have a happy awakening of festive dawn with the shooting of a large firecracker (8 hours).

In the afternoon, it will be the turn of the traditional procession with the image of the Holy Cross, which will depart at 20:00 from the church of Our Lady of Salceda to the Hermitage of the Cross and whose conclusion will be a mass in Square.

To conclude, at 10 pm, a chocolatada con churros will be held in the Plaza de la Ermita, enlivened by the performance of the Selin orchestra.
