The best international folklore gives shine to the 2019 festivities of Las Torres de Cotillas (25/08/2019)

Yesterday, Saturday, August 24 of the festivities of Las Torres de Cotillas had an extensive program of activities.

Among them, the 34th edition of the Juan Madrid Roca international folklore festival, which took place at the Juan Baño municipal auditorium organized by the Cotifolk association with free admission, stood out.

As is tradition, before the proceedings an official reception was held at the City Hall, chaired by Mayor Joaquin Vela Fernández and the Councilor for Festivities Francisco José Caravaca Bravo.

Subsequently, the participating groups staged a lively and colorful parade through the streets of Las Torres de Cotillas, which ended in the auditorium where they demonstrated all their art and talent.

The participants in this contest, which was opened by Mayor Torreño, were the Kud Dule Milosavljevic group from Serbia, the Xicalla cultural association of Catarroja (Valencia), the Larcurius choir and dance association of Malagón (Ciudad Real) and the group of choirs and dances Virgen de Fátima de la peña Rincón Pulpitero (Las Torres de Cotillas).

Other activities

In addition, the sport had its prominence, with the fifth edition of the badminton doubles tournament in the Mireia Belmonte municipal pavilion and with the Petanque open La Salceda, which brought together a large number of athletes and spectators on the San Jorge municipal courts.

The trophy delivery ceremony of this tournament, organized by the La Salceda petanque club, was chaired by the Councilor for Health and Sport, Alberta Martínez Vázquez.

A day that in the afternoon had the traditional pilgrimage to go down to the virgin of La Salceda, accompanied by the Municipal Music Band, from the Hermitage of the Coto to the Parish of Our Lady of La Salceda.

A parade that was attended by hundreds of torreños and torreñas, as well as the first deputy mayor, Marian Fernández Fernández, and the councilor of Festejos, Francisco José Caravaca Bravo.

There were also three more appointments: at noon the little ones could enjoy the children's play The Wand Lost, which the Teatrola company represented in the Pedro Serna House of Culture;

in the middle of the afternoon a Eucharist was celebrated in the church of Nuestra Señora de la Salceda;

and at night, the Víctor Campos dance academy gave a Master-class on the esplanade Maestro Don Ángel Palazón, which had free attendance and a busy participation.
