The opposite position of the PSOE and the abstention of Citizens, the two parties that support the Mayor's Office of the town of Torreña, did not allow a free movement to the Motion that in the plenary last Monday presented the Municipal Group of the Popular Party in the City Council to demand to the Government of Spain that guarantees the freedom of education and the right that assists parents so that their children receive religious and moral formation that is in accordance with their own moral convictions, as reflected in the Spanish Constitution.
In addition, it was also proposed that Consistorio torreño urged the Executive of the Nation to guarantee the free choice of center.
Thus, the popular councilors proposed the following agreements:
-Respect and defend the Spanish Constitution and jurisprudence emanating from the Constitutional Court in relation to Art 27 °, which place the right to education and the freedom of education on the same level of equality, through a harmonious development of both rights.
-Ensure that parents, as first responsible for the education of their children, choose the type of education and the educational center where their children are educated.
-Defend the network of centers established as guarantors of the existence of a complementary plural offer to the public network, as stated by the Constitutional Court, and therefore of the freedom of choice of families, ensuring equal opportunities for themselves in the exercise of this right which implies that both public and private-concerted networks will have to have the necessary resources to ensure this right.
-Promote and support the organizational and pedagogical autonomy of the centers, respecting their own character, to develop quality educational projects that can respond to the concerns and priorities of families so that they can choose freely.
-To guarantee the existence and gratuitousness of the special education centers both in the public and private-concerted networks as guarantors of the freedom of choice of the families.
-Respect and comply with Art 27.3 of the Constitution that obliges public authorities to guarantee the right that assists parents so that their children receive religious and moral training that is in accordance with their own convictions.
-Abandon any attempt aimed at suppressing the social demand of Art 109.2 of the LOMCE as a determining factor on the part of the administrations at the time of offering the educational places.
-To transfer this agreement to the Government of Spain so that, through compliance with all the points of this proposal, it defends and guarantees the educational freedoms enshrined in the Spanish Constitution.
