At the beginning of the 80s of the last century, the singular Encounters and "dance of the Saints" of the Easter Sunday of Las Torres de Cotillas took shape as they are known today.
And in 1980, immediately after its foundation, the Brotherhood of the Risen Christ and San Pedro of the town, under the presidency of Antonio Vicente Belchí, received as donation from the neighbor Antonio Vicente Fernández which, carved by the sculptor of Espinardo Antonio García Mengual, is his co-ownership image and one of the three that make up, in addition to that of San Juan Evangelista –of the homonymous Brotherhood- and the Virgen de la Victoria – belonging to that of Our Lady of Sorrows- as characteristic as a massive gun Departure of the apotheosis Holy Week procession.
Blessed on the day of Kings of 1980 in the "Divine Master" School of the town, the Risen Christ would be carried on the shoulders to the Parish Church of Our Lady of Salceda by several presidents of other brotherhoods on the throne of Our Father Jesus Nazarene and Holy Burial of Christ on rectangular iron steps.
For four decades, this life-size polychrome wood carving (1.75 meters) parades on Torreño's Easter Sunday, starting from the hermitage of Barrio de la Cruz to the mentioned Parish Temple of Salceda, where they receive it the images of San Juan Evangelista and the Virgen de la Victoria with a show of pyrotechnics and a waterfall of flowers, within the framework of one of the greatest signs of popular devotion and traditions of the municipality, such as this procession that also incorporates the " dance of the Saints ", picturesque rhythmic dance of thrones in corners, circular impetus in confluences of four streets, vibrant sensation in joyful synchrony.
And in this hubbub of faith and joyful crowd, the mission of the brother-in-law is no stranger, the one who puts the most of himself to improve, magnify the great and massive event in which the Holy Week as an appointment takes place, putting in his more Intense value the conditions to make the processional parades, amenity of majesty, meaning and reborn life, excellent catechism of solemnity, recollection and above all message of Christian humanism to full letter.
The work of a model brotherhood is to achieve incardinar year after year the full meaning of a singular Holy Week in the social field from which its human component of penitents, Nazarenes, bearers emanates, ... loaded with generosity, will, sincere devotion, ... that is, in the public life of the municipality and collaborate in every way to offer the public the perception that a message of human perfection deserves, like the one that covers the passionate manifestations in the streets.
In short, do not neglect that approach to the people that Holy Week should have because the vein of the people, men and women are those that propagate the symbolism of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Lord through the vital nerve of the town.
The social relevance of the cofradías torreñas in the area of ​​the municipality must continue to be present, being a reality in facets as well as an economic engine of the productive activity of the town showing the claw, the strength of some people who make the extraordinary emotion, of the deepest and oldest tradition of Torrena, scene of what we are able to move and do in this Villa.
And in this sense, the people of that cofrade microcosm that reflect in their delivery, in their vitalism without pause work, the thrust of the faith of an entire people that channels huge doses of feeling, art, history, in Holy Week language out of the heart in prayer.
I am referring to men who do not give up this laborious tendency throughout the year to prepare exquisite parades where thrones and images rocked to the beat of brothers mark the throbbing of the popular religiosity of Las Torres de Cotillas.
We talk about torreños de pro that represent, like nobody else, the cofrade character making faith and people, devotion and citizen participation.
