The PP asks the Government of Spain to allow the city council to use its surplus to act against the consequences of this health crisis (11/04/2020)

The Municipal People's Group in the town hall of Las Torres de Cotillas has demanded that the Government of Spain allow the rules to be relaxed so that the council can use its surplus to implement measures or services that allow it to act against the consequences of this crisis and thus help revitalize the local economy, always in coordination with the Autonomous Community and the State.

The PP Torreño has stressed that the central government is studying "confiscating" the surplus generated in 2019, as well as all the economic resources that the consistories have in banking entities.

"The State cannot use the exceptional powers conferred by the state of alarm to violate constitutional precepts, so it must respect and guarantee the autonomy that the Spanish Constitution and the laws grant to municipalities for the management of their own resources" , nuances the local popular.

In this sense, they have influenced that "the city councils cannot be the lifeline for a central government, which since 2018 has been unable to approve General State Budgets and which has denied the City Council the income that corresponded to our city council by law derived from lVA of December 2017 ".

The previous PP Government Team was able to create savings thanks to efficient and rigorous management of resources, demonstrating that the Torreño city council in the hands of the popular was able to generate a positive balance in the municipal public accounts at the closing of the budget years.

The PP presented this April 7 a motion to be debated in plenary session through which it also urges that if the Government intends to modify any of the laws that affect autonomy, that Congress validate said modifications.

However, the PP Torreño is convinced that this motion will be approved unanimously by all political groups, considering that "the right to decide how to use the remnants generated by our city council must be claimed."
