The PSOE-Citizens Government Team is pushing back the PP proposal from Torreño to lower salaries for the mayor, councilors and advisers (28/05/2020)

| To allocate the reduction of these wages to measures to fight the coronavirus in the municipality | Covid-19 is causing a crisis with brutal and devastating consequences for society's health, employment and well-being.

In the face of this emergency situation that needs extraordinary, immediate and viable measures to raise the affluence of many families who are seeing their income reduced by an ERTE, those people who do not know what their future is with de-escalation, political leaders must demonstrate commitment solidarity, social sensitivity and above all example in this hard trance, attitudes that place our city council with facts as that institution forced to respond and live up to what its neighbors need, from the values ??of justice and the will to service to be lent to the torreños. To this challenge and demonstration of doing things well, of acting correctly, with common sense, in response to what is demanded by a difficult conjuncture of unexpected breakdown and crisis such as the one we are facing, responds to the proposal that the PP of Las Torres de Cotillas took in the form of a motion to the ordinary plenary session held last Monday: the reduction, by a minimum of 15%, of the salaries of the mayor, councilors and city councilors to allocate such reduction in remuneration to activation measures in our town and to the recovery of the social and economic fabric of its neighbors. With the vote against the councilors of the PSOE and Ciudadanos and without compelling reasons for such categorical rejection, the PP Torreño's request did not go ahead in the urgent process of that plenary meeting and was rejected.

It is so hard and blunt that it can be said because it is a time of sacrifices, of rowing all together so as not to leave anyone behind. Because municipal policy must now be more sensitive than ever and more socially committed.

We must collaborate as political representatives of our neighbors in initiatives to alleviate this important and delicate stage.  All efforts are few.

We are living a conjuncture that requires us to put our shoulders close to get ahead in a colossal task of sanitary, social and economic recovery of our municipality and each one of us, as public officials, must give the best of ourselves in that united and solidary commitment that the tough situation demands.  The PP of Las Torres de Cotillas, represented in its councilors at the institutional level, has always set an example in responding to tremendous challenges that have threatened the well-being of society in our town.

The popular municipalities have already done so in the past economic crisis of 2008, even renouncing remuneration and going into unemployment to optimize and maximize municipal resources to inject investment in favor of the most vulnerable in that recession that put the future of many families as now looming. It is urgent and immediate to take steps to get ahead.

Since last April 7, the PP Torreño has been providing recovery initiatives from the municipality to the PSOE-Citizens Government Team.

The popular councilors are doing it by videoconference request to the mayor, by request of the extraordinary plenary session and now, most recently, by a Motion that has been withdrawn by the current leaders of the city council. Let everyone draw their own conclusion.
