For this reason, the Department of Equality has begun the programmed activities by hanging a large purple ribbon on the façade of the Town Hall. "We do not want this commemoration to be reduced to one day because it is a very important date.

This great bond will remember for a couple of weeks how fundamental the contribution of everyone is to fight against this social scourge," says the mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández. A year in which the popular march, which would have held its sixth edition, cannot be held for security reasons in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

"That we cannot march on foot or on skates does not mean that we continue with the same effort and commitment in this work," indicates councilor Elisa Isabel Hurtado Avilés, who anticipates that 3,500 commemorative masks will be distributed throughout the municipality and that making a video about this date.
