The PP presents a motion "against the attacks" of the Celaá Law (28/11/2020)

The Popular Party of Las Torres de Cotillas presents a motion against the attacks of the Celaá Law and in defense of the guarantee of the freedom of families to choose the model and educational center for their children. Nobody can take away from parents the ability to decide how they want their children's education to be and from the PP we will use all the tools so that this right is not taken away. The educational reform of PSOE-Podemos is an unprecedented attack on freedom and the model implemented in the Region. The law abolishes the social demand clause, paving the way for the massive suppression of units in subsidized centers. The Celaá Law has been processed with its back to the educational community and society and that lack of consensus has already cost Pedro Sánchez a serious warning from the European Commission, so from the PP we ask to urge the Government of Spain to return to the Pact Constitutional in educational matters because the new LOMLOE abolishes the freedoms enshrined in article 27 of the Constitution and thereby prevents families from choosing freely.Nobody can take away from parents the ability to decide how they want their children's education to be and from the PP we will use all the tools so that this right is not taken away.In fact, if the law prospers, the students will go to the centers depending on their postal code and in the Region of Murcia, thanks to the PP Government, more than 90 percent of the families have been able to choose the center they have wanted for their children. This Celaá Law also represents a frontal attack on concerted education because the PSOE, who created the concerts, now attacks them. In this sense, the reform abolishes the social demand clause, paving the way for the massive suppression of units in subsidized centers, which will directly affect not a few schools in our town. In addition, the reform puts Special Education Centers at risk and relegates Spanish to a mere subject, rejecting its character as a vehicular language for content.

Nobody is aware of it since this is a concession by Pedro Sánchez to the nationalist parties whose votes are essential for this government to be able to approve the State Budgets. From the Popular Party of Las Torres de Cotillas we consider that LOMLOE is a frontal attack on Spanish democracy and a brake for our educational system to reach the levels of quality, equity and freedom typical of the most important educational systems of knowledge and skills, especially considering that it does not include any of the educational challenges of the 21st century. The proposal of the PP Torreño raised to the Plenary of the City Council this coming Monday goes further and requests a cohesion fund for adequate financing, the reinforcement of the High Inspection, the implementation of a general Baccalaureate test, the incorporation of basic legislation of an educational emergency plan for crisis situations like the one we are going through, among other aspects.
