| It is an initiative of the Department of Social Services and the Elderly | The Council of Social Services and the Elderly of Las Torres de Cotillas has presented today, Wednesday, December 16, the campaign "With you", whose purpose is to prevent and support people over 65 in a situation of loneliness and / or social isolation during the pandemic.
"Our elders are a particularly vulnerable group to Covid-19, both physiologically and psychologically and emotionally, so it is the job of the administrations to provide them with protection systems," explains Mayor Torreño, Joaqu n Vela Fern ndez.
To alleviate to a certain extent the distancing that has been imposed by safety on this group of special risk, the Department of Social Services proposes to carry out a program of telephone accompaniment.
"The objective is to provide them with useful information and thus help them in their day, and accompany them by phone and support them psychologically," reports the mayor of the area, Mar a de Mar Ruiz Rosillo.
Campaign start This campaign has begun with the sending of a letter to all those over 65 registered in the municipality congratulating them on Christmas, in which the operation of this initiative is also explained.
"They are also reminded of the importance of complying with hygienic-sanitary measures," says the mayor.
In addition, they have included an approved and certified reusable mask, as well as a sheet of pictograms on hygiene and prevention measures, and the registration form for the "Contigo" program.
