| The mayor, Joaqu n Vela Fern ndez, met with the president of the basin organization, Mario Urrea, to show you this innovative project | The City Council of Las Torres de Cotillas has presented to the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) a design of the future project for the management of rainwater collected in the municipality's La Emisora ??park for the study of its viability as the body in charge of the administration and control of the public hydraulic domain.

To this end, the Torreño mayor, Joaqu n Vela Fern ndez, met with the president of the CHS, Mario Urrea, accompanied by his councilor for Urban Planning and Public Domain, Francisco Fern ndez Baño.

The objectives of this plan are to capture, transport, retain, drain and filter the surface runoff waters of the hydrological sub-basin that drains through Reyes Cat licos avenue, as well as partially capture the flow of other contiguous sub-basins.

"A park design has been projected using sustainable drainage systems, which allow the collection of excess rain and filter it into the subsoil, through filter wells and for the subsequent use of water in areas of need for water and even use as air conditioning of public buildings with the energy and economic savings that this entails, "explains the councilor.

Thus, among other purposes, the underground aquifers can be recharged and the water stored in the subsoil can be used to irrigate green areas, ornamental fountains or wash streets.

A project for the future The Las Torres de Cotillas City Council has already begun the preliminary studies to begin the recovery of this emblematic park in the municipality.

This project, framed in the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) "Las Torres Conecta" finances with ERDF funds, has started with geotechnical, climatological, hydrological and hydrogeological studies and topographic survey of the area.

"With these data, the possible actions to be carried out in said plot can be elaborated to create a future healthy environment and, above all, sustainable, unique in the municipality", indicates the mayor.
