The Council of Social Services of Las Torres de Cotillas, within the Gypsy Development Plan 'funded by the Regional Government's Murcian Institute of Social Action (IMAS), offers these days the exhibition "Cultures to share Gypsies today".
Aimed at the schoolchildren of the municipality's educational centers, it is organized by the 'Fundación Secretariado Gitano' (FSG) and the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality also collaborates with it.
The exhibition, which started on Monday, March 20 and is being visited by schoolchildren Torreños from 9 to 13 hours, is located in the Municipal Center of Los Pulpites until 31 March.
"Its objective is to bring students to the reality of the gypsy community, its history and its cultural features," explains the councilor of the area, Maria Dolores Sánchez, who visited this show on Tuesday, March 21 accompanied by the director of the Municipal Services Center Social, Águeda Sánchez.
"During their visits to the exhibit FSG monitors perform dynamics with students and explain their content," says the mayor.
Two phases
This activity consists of two parts.
One developed before the exhibition, where teachers and an FSG technician have carried out activities that motivate and prepare for the visit to the exhibition, in three sessions given to the students of 5th and 6th grade of all the Schools of the municipality.
They have worked from a holistic view of what the students know about the gypsy people, from its origins to its perspective in the present.
The second part is the visit to the exhibition, which is composed of panels and images to know the culture of the gypsy people and eliminate the stereotypes and prejudices of the gypsy people.
An activity in which are also developing group dynamics.
