The Civil Guard detains a woman for collecting the pension of her deceased mother-in-law two decades ago (29/03/2017)

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed the operation 'GERANIUM', an investigation aimed at clarifying an alleged fraud in the collection of the retirement pension of a woman, who died almost two decades ago, which has culminated in the arrest of a Person, in Las Torres de Cotillas, as presumed author of crime of fraud and documentary falsification.

The investigation began when the Civil Guard, through the Prosecutor's Office of the Region of Murcia and the Court of Instruction number 5 of Molina de Segura, received a complaint for which the Swiss Compensation Fund, located in Geneva, Of the Spanish authorities the alleged commission of a fraud.

The first surveys revealed that it was the payment of a retirement pension, the beneficiary of which had died in 1998, although from that date the monthly income of 400 euros was kept in a current account in the name of the deceased.

The Civil Guard found out that in that bank account, in addition, there appeared another headline, a woman who turned out to be the daughter-in-law of the deceased, domiciled in Las Torres de Cotillas.

The value of the defrauded would reach 90,000 euros

The research carried out revealed that from the death of the beneficiary, in 1998 and until 2007, when her son died, the amount of the pension was paid into a current account in the name of the pensioner and the latter, Manipulated the documents necessary to obtain the pension fraudulently.

According to the investigation, after the death of the son, it was his emotional partner who, allegedly, continued to falsify the various official documents necessary to continue receiving, monthly, the 400 euros.

In the investigated bank account the now detained person kept her mother-in-law as authorized, as this is a requirement demanded by the paying entity.

The result of the investigation has been brought to the knowledge of the judicial authority that has issued a warrant of entry and registration in the domicile of the suspect.

The record has been paid with the seizure of abundant documentation modified as falsified certificates of faith of life and photocopies with stamps of superimposed public organisms

The operation 'GERANIUM' has culminated in the arrest of a 56-year-old woman, a Spanish woman, as alleged perpetrator of fraud and documentary misrepresentation.

The arrest and the investigations have been made available to the Court of Instruction number 5 of Molina de Segura (Murcia).
