The body of Civil Protection of Las Torres de Cotillas continues in the municipality with its courses on the use of semiautomatic defibrillators (DESA).

The last group that has benefited from this training has been integrated by the students of the training cycle of higher level of Higher Technician in Animation of Physical and Sports Activities (TAFAD) of the IES 'Salvador Sandoval' of the town.

"In these training activities, basic life support techniques are taught and training is provided in the use of DESA in cases of emergencies with victims with cardiorespiratory arrest, for which a rapid intervention is essential", explains the person in charge of Civil Protection, Manuel Fernández, who notes that these courses are developed in the municipal facilities with which the body counts.

Previously, other participants in these courses were local police agents or sports monitors from the Department of Physical Activity and Sports as well as local clubs and associations.

"More than a hundred people have already participated in these courses, which are totally free and whose conclusion is given the corresponding accreditation by the Ministry of Health," says Fernandez.

In addition, next editions are already planned for the rest of municipal employees who are interested in learning these techniques.

Eight teams

The town of Las Torres de Cotillas has eight units of DESA, devices are located mainly in municipal facilities, such as the pavilions of the sports center, the IES 'Salvador Sandoval' and the 'Mireia Belmonte', the football field 'Onofre Fernández Verdú' , the sports center 'Sport Group Las Torres' and the 7 football field next to the House of Culture.

"In addition, Civil Protection has two of these devices, which transfer to all acts that are organized in the town," says Councilor for Police, Civil Protection, Proposals and Defense of the Citizen Gloria Fernandez.
