The Peñalver brothers, young athletes from Las Torres de Cotillas, participated with great success in the national freestyle skating championship held a few days ago in Vigo.
On the one hand, José was a gold medal in the modality of alevín skids (he had been bronze in the last two dates), while his brother Blas was bronze in children.
In addition, José was silver and Blas bronze in the modality of 'speed-slalom' of their respective categories.
"They are great athletes, an example of the great sports quarry that exists in Las Torres de Cotillas and we congratulate them for these great achievements that we are sure will not end here," said Mayor Isabel María Zapata.
Both skaters, who now belong to the club of 'Patinea School' but whose beginnings were in the local club 'Roller Queen', already shone with their own light in the past regional championship.
"Between them they won eight medals, three gold medals, two silver medals and three bronze medals", explains Councilor for Physical Activity and Sport Ginés Pérez, who emphasizes that skating is a sport that is booming in the municipality and that since 2015 the Torreño municipal sports center has a multi-purpose skating rink.
