The Culture Council of Las Torres de Cotillas, in collaboration with the local theater group 'Tejuba', has convened the seventh edition of the 'Juan Baños National Amateur Theater Competition'.

"It will be held between October and November of this year in the House of Culture 'Pedro Serna' and, as every year, we will have four of the best amateur plays in Spain," explains the mayor Isabel María Zapata, who presided over the official presentation of this contest with the councilor of Culture Pedro Cabrera and the director of 'Tejuba', Joaquín Cantero

The deadline for submitting entries will end on June 5 and the selection committee will choose from among the applicant groups a total of four participating groups, plus two reservations.

"All the works in competition will be represented on Saturdays in October, at 9:00 pm, with an entrance fee of 3 euros," says Cabrera.

Important prizes

Prizes amounting to nearly 2,000 euros and will be distributed as follows: 1,000 euros and trophy for the best show;

200 euros and trophy for the best actor and actress respectively;

100 euros and trophy to the best address;

and 100 euros and trophy respectively for the best actress and supporting actor.

The closing of the contest will take place on Saturday November 10 with the awards ceremony, in an evening that will have free admission and a representation outside of the 'Tejuba' contest.
