Juan Carlos I Avenue de Las Torres de Cotillas and N-344 and are connected (23/08/2010)

Residents and visitors to Las Torres de Cotillas already have a new entrance to town.

And today Monday August 23 has been opened by the government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, and Mayor Torreño, Domingo Coronado, the new avenue that connects the Avenida Juan Carlos I of the municipality with the N -344.

Access to an underpass crosses the railroad Cartagena-Chinchilla and suppresses the barrier to mobility and access to urban rail representing the facility.

This project made possible thanks to an investment of EUR 3,471,000 Local Investment Fund, substantially improving road safety in the very N-344.

A road now has a big round of 58 meters that suppresses left turns from the two existing intersections, eliminate existing traffic lights that shut down the step in the Molina de Segura Murcia.

"This new venue allows you to remove the barrier between the future developments planned by road infrastructure tailored to the needs of the municipality," said Mayor Torreño, who was accompanied at the event by its Town Planning, Yolanda Muñoz, and other members of the local government team.

"It is also a way to improve the quality of life for our residents and visitors, who already have a new access to facilitate their daily life and work in the town," he remarked Coronado.

Four lanes and two roundabouts

This action has resulted in the prolongation towards the east of the Avenida Juan Carlos I Torrena, from crossing the streets of Los Vincent and the pulpits regulated by a roundabout.

From that point has built a road of 600 meters, with two lanes in each direction and a landscaped central median.

It emphasizes the underpass under the railway line which has two lanes of 3.25 meters (and has performed without stopping the movement of trains at any time) and a channel area for rainwater collection.

It also has a section with service roads for access to adjoining properties and two roundabouts: a 60-meter diameter, which will link with future avenues provided for in the planning itself along the railroad, and another, the already cited in the intersection of this extension with the N-344, which serves as a new high-capacity access towards the town of Las Torres de Cotillas.
