The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Las Torres de Cotillas, Domingo Coronado, today announced the planned construction of the Auditorium and Arts Center in the municipality, which will seat 800 people and have several showrooms.

The infrastructure will be built in the grounds of future commercial-business park The Cármenes and will have a floor area of 7,000 square meters and another 10,000 for parking.

This project, whose wording has been subsidized by the Ministry with 279,481 euros, "combines with modern functionality and will become a meeting point of more than 21,000 inhabitants Cotillas Towers," said José Ballesta.

In addition to the main hall for the celebration of concerts, recitals and conferences, the Auditorium and Arts Center will have multipurpose rooms and exhibitions, and music workshops and rehearsal.

The future Hall and Arts Center will complement the Casa de la Cultura, which has a very limited capacity, and the open-air auditorium John Bath, located in the Parque de la Constitution, so that the new infrastructure will increase supply cultural city throughout the year.

A total of 83 proposals

For the selection of the proposed construction of the new auditorium, the Ministry of Public Works and Planning and the City of Las Torres de Cotillas held a contest of ideas that were a total of 83 projects.

The winning project, unanimously by the jury, was entitled 'Karst', architects Santiago Cifuentes, Juan Manuel Palacios and José Blázquez, who designed the new infrastructure as a "box" flexible and changing, which is primarily functional.

The second prize of ideas went to the project 'Cloud Arena' and the third was for the so-called 'Bamboo'.

In addition, given five mentions that corresponded to the following projects: 'Coral', 'Hatch', 'Platforms and Plateaus', 'Compact-Impact' and 'Yes We Can'.
