Every day more municipalities are targeted to the pursuit of excellence as energy currently needed for both cost savings and for environmental improvement.
Thus, the municipality of Las Torres de Cotillas, Murcia, hired the consulting services for a SL Light Energy Efficiency Audit of Foreign Public Lighting.
Light Consulting has examined during these months over areas of 957 (set of streets, avenues, parks, etc..), 6,119 points of light and 85 command centers of the town, which currently has 21,440 inhabitants.
Energy data analyzed refer to the following: types of lamps and lights used and their powers and consumption centers, control, regulation and control, and anything else that involves significant energy consumption.
The audit objective was to review the energy consumption of municipal street lighting and limit light pollution and light pollution.
Once the analysis, the audit proposed actions to be taken to improve plant efficiency and reduce consumption, which will result in a cost savings of 42% on electricity bills, which represents a saving of 220,397 euros year.
The implementation of these measures involve an investment of approximately 1,744,438 euros, which will be borne by the Energy Service Company (ESCO) awarded.
The municipality is committed to make the specifications for the award as soon as possible.
Reducing energy consumption also means a saving of 620 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, which affects the improvement of air quality and reducing the emission of greenhouse gases that are so worrisome at this time for global society.
This reduction in greenhouse gas reporting very important health benefits for citizens, reducing diseases and conditions associated with air pollution.
The lighting energy audit conducted by Light Consulting is fully compliant with the protocol Facility Energy Audit Public Lighting Exterior developed by the IDEA and the CIS.
