The Minister of Education, Science and Research, Juan Ramón Medina, attended today in Madrid to the delivery of the Awards 'The Land of Students 2007-2008' in which students of the IES Santa María de la Paz de Murcia, San Francisco de Asis de Yecla and Salvador Sandoval Cotillas Towers, which has been a finalist.
Beautiful Medina noted that this recognition "is for students to coordinate efforts and to develop, led by a teacher, a newspaper that includes a plurality of all related forms of communication," adding that "given that we live in a media society where communication is increasingly important, students need to join to read newspapers and listen to the radio, and to develop its own newspaper. "
The director congratulated the students and teachers at the Las Torres de Cotillas for his role as "a contribution to the quality of teaching."
He noted that this is the seventh edition of the awards in which students from the Region of Murcia has always participated.
The Country of the students is a contest of journalistic publications aimed at students of 2 nd cycle Secondary school, sponsored by this newspaper and the company Endesa, which also has sponsorship and cooperation of different institutions and autonomous governments.
In the contest, the teams will recreate a newspaper office, taking on various tasks, from photography, advertising and editorial.
Under the supervision of a teacher or tutor who acts as director of the publication, each team develops its own newspaper using desktop publishing system via the Internet provided by El Pais.
