"Increased security" to prevent school Torreño occupational risk (16/10/2008)

The general director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health regional government, Tomas Perez and Councilman Education Cotillas Towers, Pedro Cabrera, presented on the morning of today, Thursday, Oct. 16 en la Casa de la Cultura "Pedro Serna" school campaign "Grow in Security" which will take part about 600 schools in the municipality Torreño during the months of October and November.

This is an initiative jointly organized by the Consistory Torreño-through the Department of Education, and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health on the prevention of occupational risks in the field of education aimed at schools or groups interested in the municipality and oriented achieve from the earliest ages to develop habits of healthy and safe behavior at work.

A campaign has been funded by the regional administration with 6,000 euros and that the Department of Education Cotillas Towers will put in place to meet three fundamental objectives: to promote and encourage the habits of health and safety performance of students in schools, developing training and dissemination activities of the working culture of prevention, strengthen teacher training in prevention, for transmission to students as a crosscutting issue, and, finally, develop a culture of prevention through the promotion of safety and occupational health at all levels of education, involving the whole society (parents, teachers, students and administration) for the generation of positive behaviors in prevention.

Training talks

The educational program "Security Grows in 2008" includes a series of actions among which includes an opening session addressed to principals and teachers at participating Torreño, and all the inhabitants of the municipality in general, where he presented the campaign and will announce the program's objectives and activities that comprise it.

Later, during the months of October and November, will be held talks aimed at training students in the municipality in charge of a graduate in Occupational Hazard Prevention.

Thus, in order to raise awareness among young people, encourage student participation through games, videos, DVDs and interactive multimedia CDs, creating posters, essays and practical exercises.

Similarly there will be a writing contest for schoolchildren to take part in this initiative which will address issues related to the campaign and there will be prizes for first, second and third best work.

Theatre against occupational hazard

Another of the actions contemplated in "Security Grows in 2008" is the delivery of educational material, folders, pens, hats, keychains, etc .- with the aim of promoting a culture of prevention and educate and inform children, not only in schools but also about the risks present in the home and on the street.

It aims to reach children in an illustrative manner by designing and publishing brochures, binding of comics, posters, etc.

Finally, participating students will raise awareness of the importance of adopting a defensive attitude and aptitude, as referred to occupational hazards, through a children's theater company specializing in the application of teaching techniques.

"We believe that a campaign is necessary for our students and they will learn very easily and teaching to prevent the risks inherent in the working world," said Councilman Education Cotillas Towers, Pedro Cabrera, referring this initiative.
