Bascuñana opens the Early Care Center Towers Cotillas (13/11/2008)

On the morning of Thursday 13 November, the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Immigration Regional Government, Joaquín Bascuñana, and the mayor of Las Torres de Cotillas, Domingo Coronado, opened the Center for Early Childhood of the town Torrena.

The event was also attended by, among other authorities, the general director of Disabled People, Maria Socorro Morente, and the Councillor for Social Policy of the municipality, Fina Almela.

This center has a floor area of 183'20 m2 and a surface area of 158'89 m2.

There are four treatment rooms (physical therapy, individual therapy, stimulation and treatment of speech), a waiting room, an office for the professionals, 2 bathrooms (one with disabled access and children), and a warehouse.

Its construction in municipal owned land was funded entirely by the Ministry of Bascuñana, which contributed 150,000 €.

For your equipment has been allocated € 85,500, of which € 63,750 has been funded by the same Ministry.

Moreover, for its maintenance (personnel and other expenses) has signed an agreement in October to December 2008 between the City and the aforementioned Torreño Ministry, where it contributes € 13,500 and € 14,000 local consistory.

Ages 0 to 6 years

The Early Warning Center Towers Cotillas is a specialized center, public and free and dependent on the Department of Social Policy Torrena (under that agreement of collaboration with the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration), where are offered different services: prevention, detection, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of sensory-motor stimulation, cognitive, physical therapy, speech and motor skills, socio-affective intervention and family support, guidance and monitoring school; and advice to parents.

These services are offered to children from 0 to 6 years who have some kind of dysfunction or those belonging to the so-called high risk groups, whether socio-environmental (disadvantaged family environment, scarce economic resources, contagious diseases, etc. .) or biological (low birth weight, birth asphyxia, meningitis, head trauma, problematic parts ...).

It counts among its staff with a psychologist, a facilitator, a speech therapist and a physiotherapist.

Among the most common problems that are treated in the center include those of psychomotor and language delay, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, hearing impairment, visual and metabolic diseases, developmental disorders, behavioral disorders ...
