The extension of the substation Iberdrola Cotillas Towers, at a good pace (16/03/2009)

On the morning of Monday 16 March, the mayor of Las Torres de Cotillas, Domingo Coronado, and the director of Substations and Maintenance of Iberdrola in the Region of Murcia, José Zapata, visited the expansion works of the new electrical substation this company has on the site of the Glen of taste of the town Torreño.

During the visit also participated, among other officials, local councilors of Urban, Yolanda Muñoz, and Chair, Domingo Cava.

Action to allow Iberdrola is developing a 900% increase in processing capacity, going from the 10 MVAS currently produced at 90 MVAS to be obtained when they finish up the work.

To do this, this company is installing two new transformers, whose operation is expected to be fully operational with its new configuration before the end of the first half of this year.

Double feeding

Further, this substation Cotillas Towers will be connected to the voltage of 132 kV (very high voltage) through the substation of El Palmar, and maintain food at 66 kV substation Mula, thus contributing to reliability of supply.

This means that the new electrical substation will have a dual feed, both in the voltage of 132 kV and 66 kV, so that in case of incidence of these tensions, the other will come to supply it to maintain power the municipality.

"We hope that very soon it can be put into operation substation to its full potential," said Mayor Torreño, Domingo Coronado, who explained that this expansion will "ensure that any industry can be installed in the town and we have guaranteed energy development in the locality. "
