The Center for Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI) in Las Torres de Cotillas, service subsidized by the Institute for Women in the Region of Murcia, met on 14 May two years of service in the municipality.
The center, which provides psychological, social and legal assistance to all women in the municipalities of Las Torres de Cotillas, Ceuta, Lorqui Alguazas y Campos del Río, that are victims of abuse, has treated 129 cases during this time: 35 in 2007, 60 in 2008 and 34 so far this year.
CAVI in this service is provided to all women over 18 years, suffering or have suffered abuse by their partners or former partners, or who think they may be in a similar situation.
The goal of care is to provide tools to make women aware of their ability to break with the situation they are living, and assume by itself the control of their lives.
Specialized personnel
To this end, the CAVI, which has a psychologist, a lawyer and a social worker provides comprehensive care and personalized free for the time necessary to break and leave the abusive situation.
His program of intervention is appropriate goals and needs of every woman, without the prerequisite requirement but not limited to a certain number of sessions.
In this line of action, there are courses and workshops aimed at the female population of the area, to facilitate a meeting to enable them to create a strong social support network, as well as their full integration into the community.
"This is a meeting place for women with similar problems, in which space is available, which will reinforce their feelings of safety and security," said Fina Almela, Councillor for Social Policy of the municipality Torreño.
